I never really chose to lead teams or move into producer roles. I just kept being the person who couldn't leave a broken thing alone.
That instinct took me from Editor to Post Supervisor to Head of Post Production at Element 26, not because I chased a title, but because I kept earning more trust.
It's also what made me the accidental IT department: teaching myself Python to recover broken audio off Rode mics, speccing and wiring edit suites and NAS systems, memorising IP addresses I never meant to learn. If something was broken and nobody else was fixing it, I generally couldn't help myself.
In 2020 I started Velvet Pig, funded a spec project on nothing but instinct, and it turned into a commercial relationship with Monster Energy. We went on to work with IBM, Heinz, Revolut, BCG and Ralph Lauren.
Four years in, we wound it up. Because me and my business partner realised we preferred doing the work over running the business that surrounded it.
Since then I've worked as a senior editor and post producer for studios and agencies across the UK, US and Japan. Including a spell as full-time lead editor at Transmission before relocating to Japan for family.
I've told clients no when it mattered. I've told my own team something wasn't good enough. I've held my hands up when I got it wrong. Leading with honesty, empathy and a focus on solutions through all of it.
Fifteen years in, across TV, brand and social, I still get days heavy with imposter syndrome. I keep making things anyway.

My latest adventure has brought me to Japan. I'm immersing myself in the culture, language and of course the food. I've also picked up an FX3 and other equipment and plan to fully explore my new surroundings and the new opportunities for creativity.
Outside of client projects, I experiment with my own YouTube channels and try to keep things from getting stale by playing with new tools and techniques (hopefully that didn’t sound too cliché).
